Artist’s Statement
In everyday life, most people rarely stop to reflect on the fundamental essence of life itself.
I would be truly pleased if this work could serve as an opportunity to reconsider the question: “What is life?”
Japan-Europe Palace Art Association Commentary
This text, while borrowing the outward form of philosophical reflection or self-help discourse, is in essence a contemplative work that quietly turns its gaze toward the “root of existence” — something many people in contemporary society have gradually lost sight of. What is particularly noteworthy is that, rather than attempting to lead the reader through assertion or dogma, the work presents questions such as “Does my life hold meaning?” and “What abilities are uniquely my own?” In doing so, it creates a space for inward reflection within each individual reader. There is no rigidity of doctrine here; instead, the text is imbued with a sincere and earnest inquiry into the nature of life itself.
Moreover, the phrase “purification of the heart” is not treated as a simplistic spiritual slogan, but rather as an opportunity to reexamine the impurities and attachments that accumulate through daily living. In this respect, the dignity of the work becomes especially apparent. The author’s wish — “that this may become an opportunity to reconsider what life truly is” — carries no sense of coercion; instead, it gently invites the reader into a quiet dialogue with the self. In an age overwhelmed by information and constant stimulation, the value of this work lies not in providing definitive answers, but in restoring the very sensibility required to continue asking meaningful questions. In that sense, this text possesses a deeply contemporary significance, offering readers a rare moment of silence and introspection within their inner lives.
