Her works have been exhibited not only throughout Japan but also in countries around the world.

Artist’s Statement

When I think of a quintessential Japanese summer landscape, I am reminded of fireflies dancing above rice fields at dusk—a scene rarely found elsewhere in the world.
Sadly, such sights have become increasingly uncommon, even in Japan.
Yet this harmony between people and nature feels deeply Japanese to me. Rather than a memory of the past, I see it as a vision of the future.
I already know people who are working toward that future.
That is why I believe this scene belongs not to the past, but to the near future.

日本らしい自然の夏の風景を考えたとき、他国の地域で見られないのは「蛍舞う田園」の風景だろうと思いました。
残念ながら今では日本でもなかなか見られない光景です。
人の営みと自然の営みが当たり前に交わる光景は日本的であり、きっとこれからの世界の青写真となるもの。
すでにその方向を向いて動いている人々がいるのを私は知っています。
だからこの光景は過去のものではなく近い未来の風景なのです。

Message from the Artist

Human beings are part of nature and exist within the continuous cycle of life.
The sky, the land, the sea, and the flow of water that connects them are all inseparably linked.
No matter how we divide them in our minds, they cannot truly be separated.
The countless living creatures that inhabit these environments are likewise bound together through intricate and interdependent relationships.
Perhaps we once understood this intuitively.
I hope this work may offer an opportunity to rediscover that sense of connection.

人も自然の一部であり、命の循環の中にある。空、大地、海、空を繋ぐ水の流れ。
人がそれらを別々に扱っても実際には分けることは不可能で、そこに住まう生物たちも含め細かく複雑に密接につながり合っている。
私たちはかつて無意識の領域でそれを理解していたはず。この作品がその感覚を取り戻す縁になる事を願っています。

Japan-Europe Palace Art Association Commentary

Yo Kazamori’s watercolors are guided by a gentle vision of a world in harmony with nature. Soft colors spread across her compositions, depicting scenes in which people, animals, and small living creatures coexist peacefully. Yet the kindness that permeates her work is never merely nostalgic, nor is it an idealized fantasy.

Her artistic expression reflects not only a sense of loss for disappearing landscapes, but also a quiet determination to carry them forward into the future.
The softly glowing fireflies, rural scenery, and endearing animals appear as symbols of a hoped-for future in which humanity rediscovers its connection with the natural world.

The transparent luminosity unique to watercolor delicately captures the light and atmosphere that embrace the living environment, inviting viewers into a sense of calm and reflection.
Beneath this gentle imagery, however, lies a profound contemplation of the cycles of life and the principle of coexistence.
From within its softness emerges a quiet yet unmistakable strength of conviction.

Listening attentively to the voices of all living things, Yo Kazamori continues to paint a vision of the future in which humanity and nature once again exist in harmony.

風守葉の水彩画は、自然と共に生きる世界への優しいまなざしによって貫かれている。その画面には柔らかな色彩が広がり、人や動物、小さな生きものたちが穏やかに共存する情景が描き出されている。
だが、その優しさは単なる郷愁や理想化に留まるものではない。
彼女の表現には、失われつつある風景を惜しむ視線と同時に、それを未来へ受け渡そうとする意志が息づいている。
淡く光る蛍や田園の風景、愛らしい動物たちは、自然とのつながりを取り戻した未来への願いを象徴する存在として画面に置かれているのである。
また、水彩ならではの透明感に満ちた色調は、自然界を包む光や空気を繊細に映し出し、見る者を穏やかな感覚へと誘う。
その一方で、作品の根底には生命の循環や共生への深い思索が流れており、柔和な表現の奥から確かな芯の強さが静かに立ち現れる。
