Reiko Ikeda is a Japanese stained glass and glassblowing artist.Her works have been exhibited in countries around the world.
Through a refined artistic sensibility and exceptional craftsmanship,she has developed a distinctive artistic world in which light and glass exist in harmonious dialogue.

池田玲子は日本のステンドグラス・吹きガラス作家。日欧宮殿芸術協会会員。世界各国で作品を出展。

 GAIA, Must be Beautiful 

Artist’s Statement

From space, the Earth is said to appear as a beautiful blue planet.
Yet here on the ground, we continue to face countless conflicts and challenges—both among nations and between individuals.
This work was created as a prayer and a wish that our Earth may become truly beautiful, not only in appearance but also in spirit and reality.

宇宙から見る地球は青くて美しいと聞きます。
でも地上では国レベル、個人レベルで様々な争いや難しい問題がたくさん起きています。
そのような地球が名実ともに美しい星になるように祈りを込めて作りました。

Artist’s Statement

This work was created to express the atmosphere of spring.
During its creation, I traveled back and forth between my own studio and a glassblowing workshop located some distance away, bringing the piece to completion through that process.
Spring is not always gentle and calm. At times, strong winds sweep across the landscape, only to give way once again to its characteristic softness and warmth.
This work is my attempt to capture those changing moods of spring.

この作品は単純に春の雰囲気を表現しましたが、制作にあたって離れたところにある吹きガラスの工房とこちらの工房を行き来して完成させたものです。
春は常に穏やか絵はなく、時に強い風が拭い荒れます。
でもまたあ優しい春に戻ります。そのような春を表現しました。

池田玲子の作品は、ガラスという素材の中に、驚くほど豊かな生命感と詩情を息づかせている。
透明な光を受け止めながら色彩を内包するその表現は、単なる造形を超え、自然と人との関係、そして世界の美しさへの静かなまなざしを映し出しているようである。
とりわけ印象深いのは、一点一点を手仕事によって生み出すステンドグラスならではの温もりである。
高度な技術によって磨き上げられた完成度を備えながらも、その根底には素材と真摯に向き合う時間の蓄積が感じられ、作品全体に柔らかな人間味を与えている。光はガラスの内部で揺らぎ、色彩は刻々と表情を変え、鑑賞者の視線に応じて新たな景色を生み出してゆく。
また池田玲子の創作には、既成の形式に留まることのない自由な発想が貫かれている。ガラス、光、空間が有機的に結びつくことで、作品は静止した造形物でありながら絶えず変化し続ける存在となる。
